The Coalition was founded in 2015 by a group of dedicated college leaders aiming to improve the college application process, particularly for those students from historically under-represented groups.  The Coalition builds off of our past College Knowledge Program, working with high school students who are eligible for the Benton Harbor Promise. The Coalition helps make college a reality for all students through MyCoalition, a set of free, online college-planning tools that helps students learn about, prepare for, and apply to college. Using MyCoalition, students can begin exploring colleges and compiling personal and school-related achievements as early as ninth grade. By the time senior year rolls around, they are already on track for college success.

What we are trying to accomplish:

The Coalition is a partnership between The First Tee of Benton Harbor and the Benton Harbor Promise to prepare them academically, socially, or vocationally for life after high school.

2018 Highlights:

Halloween - The Coalition students sacrificed their Halloween to volunteer at The First Church of God-Benton Heights, passing out candy to children in the neighborhood. College Night at Lake Michigan College - Students had an opportunity to meet with over 60 colleges and universities. Grand Valley State University - Students were able to spend the day touring the campus of Grand Valley State University, with a special guest tour guide, Imani Lee, which is a Coalition alumni.
